Teen Suicide is dangerous. You might think your child’s not at risk, that they are completely fine. Think again, everyones child is at risk. Child and teen suicide is only growing and it’s increasing risk doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Teen Suicide Prevention is the way to protecting our younger generation from fighting depression. Through reminding our kids their life is worth it, the amazing Sources of Strength program, and through telling our kids the dangers of teen depression, we can resolve teen suicide. Studies have shown that children who know of a death by suicide have a higher rate of committing it themselves. We have reason to believe this because when someone dies, we dedicate a lot to them. That there are others like them, who have already overcome what they are battling right now. And that it’s not imposs ible for them to win the fight. Many people will think, there are too many kids in the world to really make a difference, and suicide is only an issue when children are treated poorly. In another article Stacy Khadaroo quotes Jill Harkavy-Friedman, senior director of research at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in New York, â€Å"If people oversimplify youth suicide and always link it to bullying, parents might think, ‘Oh, my child is not being bullied, so my child is not at risk,’( Khadaroo 1). You need to be aware of suicide symptoms and, if families would sit down and talk with their children about this, suicide rates should drop. That’s all it takes a conversation, no fundraising, just a simple talk. After, the chances of your child telling you if they’ve been having suicidal thoughts will rise increasingly. â€Å"Any mention of suicide or death must be taken seriously.
